We asked Nebula, World Fantasy, Ignyte, and Aurora award-winning author—and Reach Your Apex instructor—Premee Mohamed four “lightning round” questions about herself and her work.
Let’s go:
1. What’s the last thing you finished reading or watching, and what did you think of it?
I just finished reading MONARCHS OF THE SEA by Danna Staaf and I loved it! When pop-sci is done right, it’s pretty much my favourite genre to read in.
2. Do you work to music, silence or some other audio stimulus? If you work to something other than silence, what do you listen to? If you work in silence, how and where do you secure that silence?
Depends on the work! If I’m editing or taking notes, usually music. If I’m drafting, silence because I need to concentrate and I can’t get to that ‘last level’ of focus if there’s even one thing distracting me.
3. Do you experience creativity blocks? If so, what do you do to break them? If not, why do you think that is?
Nope! I always have way more creativity than I have time to use it. I guess I’m just a curious person and everything I see, read, and hear makes me think “I wonder what would happen if — ”
4. What’s your most unpopular opinion?
I think scientists should be working harder to create dinosaurs. I just can’t get behind all the other ‘priorities’ that science claims it’s focusing on right now.
These Premee answers are very Premee, trust us.
Thanks, Premee, for playing along!
