Marie Vibbert isn’t just an author and Reach Your Apex instructor. According to the biography on her website, she’s been a medieval squire, ridden 17% of the roller coasters in the United States, and has been a defensive lineman for the Cleveland Fusion women’s tackle football team.
She also has a varied and impeccable sense of fashion, a wicked sense of humor, and a twin sister named Grace that co-writes comics with her.

Around all of this, she also works as a computer programmer by day.
Her debut novel, Galactic Hellcats, was an idea from her teenage years that she revisited as an adult. There are parts of Marie’s original draft from her youth present in the published edition!
She was a Hugo and Nebula Award finalist for her novelette “We Build This City”. No word if the band Starship demanded cowriter credits.
I’ve had the pleasure of publishing Marie five times. In fact, Marie won the Apex Magazine Story of the Year award in 2014 with “Keep Talking”. The Oxford Culture Review said “It’s the embodiment of what science fiction should be in 2016. I couldn’t agree more.
