Mid-December Updates


Hi reader

Yesterday, for a brief moment, sleet fell from the sky. While I'm glad it melted quickly and didn't cause any traffic issues, it was nice to see cold weather precipitation. We've had very little notable snow in Lexington for the past two winter seasons. Maybe this year will break the drought?

There's something magical about the quietness of a fresh layer of snow. It's the near-perfect writing conditions.

REACH YOUR APEX UPDATES

We are continuously working to improve and expand the student experience. Sometime in the past month, we finished installing our new learning management system. The new LMS will give our instructors more flexibility in how they structure their workshops but centralizing all the information and resources associated with the course. Students can also access past, current, and future courses via the My Courses feature.

Would you like your flash fiction critiqued by an acquiring editor? This is your opportunity! Apex Magazine Flash Fiction Editor Rebecca Treasure will run a one night critique and feedback session with five students over Zoom. Students will submit their work (up to 1000 words) two weeks prior to the planned meeting date and will be asked to provide feedback in addition to receiving feedback from Rebecca and their fellow students.
