Author, freelance editor, and RYA instructor Eugen Bacon is available for a limited number of monthly consultations for short fiction and novels. After you place your order, we will forward your contact information to Eugen. She will email you within a day or two to discuss your needs and make a plan for execution of services.
Short Fiction Consultation Guidelines:
- Submit a short story in any genre or subgenre up to 5,000 words.
- Detailed line comments with guiding questions, clarification notes, and suggestions where necessary.
- 400+ words overview/edit note that will offer developmental comments and suggestions on character, structure, plot, pacing, theme, style, and potential revision direction.
- An opportunity to ask any follow-up questions concerning the feedback through email.
Novel Consultation Guidelines:
- Submit a novel excerpt in any genre or subgenre up to 10,000 words.
- Include an additional synopsis (no more than 1,000 words) comprising a brief novel summary (about 250 words) and a chapter-by-chapter breakdown (750 words).
- Detailed line comments with guiding questions, clarification notes, and suggestions where necessary.
- 400+ words overview/edit note that will offer developmental comments and suggestions on character, structure, plot, pacing, theme, style, and potential revision direction.
- An opportunity to ask any follow-up questions concerning the feedback through email.

About Eugen Bacon
Dr Eugen M. Bacon (MA, MSc, PhD) is an African Australian author of several novels and collections. She’s a British Fantasy Award winner, a Foreword Book of the Year silver award winner, a twice World Fantasy Award finalist, a Rhysling and twice Elgin award nominee for poetry, and a finalist in the British Science Fiction Association, Aurealis, Ditmar and Australian Shadow Awards.
