Description
Dialogue can be the most noticeable thing about your story — for better or for worse.
In this workshop, we go over the role of dialogue in prose narratives, discuss what makes strong dialogue, and discuss how to strengthen, condense, and prune weak dialogue.
Using examples from a wide variety of sources, we learn how to:
- differentiate character voices,
- show dialect and accents respectfully on the page, and
- audit your dialogue so it doesn’t throw the reader out of the story.
Workshop outcome: dialogue that integrates seamlessly into your narrative — and strengthens your themes, messages, character development, and plot.
