You can’t sell a story with an excellent query letter, but you can certainly earn a rejection letter with a poor one. The skills required to write a great story aren’t necessarily the same ones it takes to craft a compelling query letter.
We all deserve the peace of mind that comes with having a strong pitch when querying agents and publishers.
In this workshop, we’ll examine what query letters are actually for.
What should go into a query letter? And, importantly, what should not?
We’ll go over line by line your pre-submitted letter. Our goal: you leaving with a letter that’s ready to send.

Instructor Bio: Nick Mamatas is the author of several novels, including The Second Shooter and I Am Providence. His short fiction has appeared in Best American Mystery Stories, Tor.com, Weird Tales, Asimov’s Science Fiction and many other venues. Nick is also an anthologist; his most recent title is Wonder and Glory Forever: Awe-Inspiring Lovecraftian Fiction. Nick’s fiction and editorial work have variously been nominated for the Hugo, Bram Stoker, Shirley Jackson, Locus, and World Fantasy awards.
