As you might have noticed, Reach Your Apex has been cooling its heels the last few months. My publishing venture, Apex Book Company, has picked up considerable steam and was monopolizing my time and energy. I felt that I was not giving the attention that RYA students, instructors, and users deserved.
The hope was that by late December, I could turn my focus back to RYA. That turned out not to be the case. A business colleague, Kirsten Lambertsen, was discussing our various projects when she asked me about Reach Your Apex. I told her it was on hiatus until I could find the resources to make it as great a platform as I’d dreamed of it being.
Kirsten, an experienced business leader in the field of digital businesses, smiled and said she might know a good candidate.
So Kirsten and I decided to form a quasi-partnership. She will take ownership of the Reach Your Apex brand. She will keep me involved in several key aspects of the business: finding qualified instructors, helping select courses, and maintaining the cross-branding between RYA and Apex Book Company (and Apex Magazine).
Kirsten will be posting tomorrow introducing herself and her vision for the site, but here’s what I can tell you. The site will undergo a redesign and look much nicer. The underlying LMS will function much better.
Some things won’t change. For example, she will keep the best and most popular of our workshop leaders. She also plans to continue my original business goal of providing genre writers with affordable online education options via one-shot seminars and VOD courses.
I don’t want to overshare and steal any of Kirsten’s thunder when she posts tomorrow!
I’m absolutely delighted that Kirsten is taking over Reach Your Apex. I feared RYA would be on a permanent hiatus, but now I get to watch an upstart business I created grow into a fully-fledged, thriving company!
If you have questions, feel free to leave them in the chat. I’ll answer them the best I can.
Thank you for being a part of Reach Your Apex. Our continuing journey promises to be educational and vibrant!
